DTEK delivers 100MW Ukrainian second helping

Ukraine energy company DTEK has commissioned the second 100MW phase of Prymorska wind farm, bringing total operational capacity at the facility to 200MW, according to the Ukrainian Wind Energy Association (UWEA).

The project, which is located in the Zaporozhzhia region at two sites about 50 km apart, features 26 GE 3.8-130 and 26 GE 3.8-137 turbines, UWEA said.

DTEK chief executive Maksim Timchenko said: “DTEK is the largest national investor into the green energy sector of Ukraine. We have already invested more than €1bn in the construction of 1GW of solar and wind power plants.

“Our partners in renewable energy projects are the world’s leading OEMs and financial institutions.

“The effective partnership allows attracting foreign investments, advanced technologies, experience and expertise to the country.

“This builds up trust in Ukraine, encourages new investors to invest in the economy of our country.

“The launch of Prymorska is the company’s next contribution to strengthening the country’s energy independence, improving the environment and the life of communities.”

UWEA board chairman Andriy Konehcenkov said: “Prymorska wind farm contributes to the formation of the new competitive market; this is a good example of transformation from fossil energy to a ‘green’ energy, this is also a good example of positive impact on environment.”

DTEK has also commissioned the 240MW Pokrovskaya solar farm in the Nikopol district of Dnepropetrovsk region.
